Question 1

Is Fresnaye safe?

Accepted Answer

Fresnaye is one of the safest suburbs in Cape Town. The area is affluent, quiet, and residential with private security patrols. Properties are large and many are gated. The elevated position on the slopes of Lion's Head limits through-traffic and contributes to a secure, exclusive environment.

Question 2

Where is Fresnaye?

Accepted Answer

Fresnaye is an exclusive Atlantic Seaboard suburb perched on the slopes of Lion's Head, between Bantry Bay and Sea Point. It offers dramatic panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Lion's Head, and Table Mountain. The suburb is primarily residential, with luxury villas and apartments occupying prime elevated positions.

Question 3

Is Fresnaye sheltered from the wind?

Accepted Answer

Fresnaye benefits from some wind protection due to its position on the slopes of Lion's Head, though exposure varies by property. Higher properties may catch more wind, while those lower on the slopes are more sheltered. It is generally less wind-affected than nearby Camps Bay during the summer southeaster season.

Question 4

What is the cost of living in Fresnaye?

Accepted Answer

Fresnaye is one of Cape Town's most exclusive and expensive residential suburbs, sitting in the same premium bracket as Clifton and Bantry Bay. Its elevated position above Sea Point offers dramatic ocean and sunset views, which are reflected in rental prices. The suburb is purely residential, so groceries, dining, and services are accessed in nearby Sea Point and Green Point. Browse current Fresnaye listings on roam&root for up-to-date pricing.

Question 5

How far is Fresnaye from the city centre?

Accepted Answer

Fresnaye is approximately 4 kilometres from the Cape Town CBD, a 10 to 15 minute drive. Sea Point's amenities are a 5 minute drive downhill. The V&A Waterfront is about 10 minutes by car. There is no direct public transport, so a car or ride-hailing service is essential for daily life.

Question 6

What are the views like from Fresnaye?

Accepted Answer

Fresnaye offers some of the most spectacular views in Cape Town. Properties on the upper slopes have sweeping panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean, Robben Island, and dramatic sunsets. Views of Lion's Head and Table Mountain are visible from different vantage points within the suburb. The views are a primary reason for Fresnaye's premium property values.

Question 7

Is Fresnaye good for remote workers?

Accepted Answer

Fresnaye offers a quiet, distraction-free environment for remote work with fibre internet available in most properties. However, there are no coworking spaces, cafes, or commercial amenities within the suburb. Remote workers in Fresnaye typically work from home and travel to Sea Point or the CBD for meetings, social interaction, and daily errands.

Question 8

How does Fresnaye compare to Bantry Bay and Clifton?

Accepted Answer

Fresnaye, Bantry Bay, and Clifton are neighbouring Atlantic Seaboard suburbs with similar luxury profiles. Fresnaye is higher on the slopes with more dramatic views but steeper access. Bantry Bay is more sheltered from wind. Clifton has direct beach access and is more exclusive. All three are among Cape Town's safest and most desirable addresses.

Question 9

Accepted Answer
